TCS NQT, TCS Ninja & TCS Digital Difference, Exam pattern and Interview Strategy

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) organize different-different exams like TCS NQT, TCS Ninja, and TCS Digital but wonder what these exams are & what is the difference among these.
This is a brief description of a Live session of Two Industry experts Adarsh Srivastava & Sunny Pumnany. Both of them are TCS Digital qualified & currently working as Full Stack Engineer in Cognizant. In case you have missed the session, you can go through the below video.

The difference among TCS NQT, TCS Ninja & TCS Digital
Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) organizes their different exams like TCS NQT, TCS Ninja, or TCS Digital on the platform of TCS iON. If we look into the differences so these are as follows:
TCS NQT
According to our experts, TCS NQT is a qualifier program. Based on the performance in NQT you can be able to get recruited in many different companies Titan, Bajaj Allianz, etc. It is not compulsory for the person that he/she must belong to CS/IT background, different department student can also go for this exam.
NOTE: Other companies might have their own demands and exams so you have to clear that as well.
TCS Ninja
TCS Ninja is a job profile in TCS, where you get the job actually in TCS only. For TCS Ninja you don't have to pay any amount while registering.
TCS Digital
When you score high in TCS Ninja (>90%) you are eligible to go for TCS Digital where you can work on advanced technology like machine learning and data science.
Eligibility
- Age limit(18-28)
- UG & PG students in their final or pre-final year.
- B.Tech / M.Tech / BCA / MCA / B.E. / M.Sc.
- Minimum aggregate(all subject in all semester) marks should be 60% or 6 CGPA in Class Xth, Class XIIth, Diploma(if any).
- At the time of registration, at most one backlog, you may have and before the interview, you must have to clear that as well.
- It is mandatory to declare the gap if any. That should not be more than 24 months.
- Work experience should not be more than 2 years.

Important Points to Remember
- We can go for the TCS NQT exams as many times as we want but TCS Ninja can only be given one time.
- There is a cyclomatic test as well where your personality has been judged.
- There is no negative marking.
- Once you go for the next question, you can't get back and review the previous question
Preparation Strategies
According to the Adarsh Sir -
- Learn Topicwise(complete one topic then go for next).
- For Verbal ability, there might be an infinite number of questions possible(synonyms, antonyms, etc.) and you can't learn all those but unseen passages can provide you a greater advantage if you could be able to grasp that.
- Aptitude reasoning, Ninja goes from basic to a medium level only, don't try too many hard questions if you are preparing for Ninja but for the Digital profile, you should go for hard questions as well.
- Program- For Ninja, programming questions are very basic and if the basic concepts are clear you can easily clear that but in Digital there is a drastic change in the level of questions. You have to practice well for Digital.
Adding some more points to the above strategies Sunny sir told -
- There are some platforms that provide last year's papers and their syllabus some of them are Prepinsta, Freshers world & Faceprep.
- Before jumping to the strategy find out the syllabus first and mark the important topics and then start the learning.
- Give an adequate amount to the aptitude reasoning and clear the basics of programming.
We had one more expert with us Mateshwari Verma working as Software Engineer in TechVedika and he added, "As a fresher, sometimes it becomes easy to get the job. As the company doesn't expect much, with the basic and proper knowledge you can definitely get the job."
Interview Guide
It is of three rounds
- TR
- It is one of the toughest rounds of the whole interview
- Questions in this round are much more related to your CV.
- Non-verbal ability(like how to sit, talk) also matters.
- You should try to be elaborative with your answers.
- They asked more questions with Databases in comparison with Data structure as they work more on databases.
- MR
- Questions might be with your major projects.
- Situation based question
- Check for mental fit, social fit, and cultural fit.
- HR
- Normal questions
- Communication should be proper.
FAQs
Q. 1 - What is a better choice between TCS Ninja and TCS Digital?
Ans - If you know only the basics of programming language and don't want to work much on coding, TCS Ninja is a better choice while if you are good at programming and want to work in advanced technologies like ML, DL you should go for the Digital. Therefore, TCS Digital is a better choice where you work on advanced technologies and the package is also higher.
Q. 2 - Any preference in language?
Ans - More preferable languages are C & C++ whereas you can go with Java and Python as well but don't go with Python only as there may be some version conflictions in their platform.
Q. 3 - How we can skip the questions?
Ans - Don't try to skip questions straightforward, you can request them that you don't know the answer but you can try.
Q. 4 - What if we answer something wrong?
Ans - In case you answered wrong and they point out, try to speak in a polite manner that "according to my understanding, this is the right answer."
Q. 5 - What is TCS Codevita?
Ans - This exam is based on programming knowledge, where you get 7 programming questions & if you successfully submitted the 3-4 questions you get the direct call for the interview in TCS Ninja while for successful submission of 6-7 questions you can go for TCS Digital. You should not worry about their respective exams.
Q. 6 - How to tackle social problems in MR round like "choose between work or family and something like that"?
Ans - For this type of problem you can't go one-sided answer, you will always be diplomatic with your answer and try to satisfy them with your answer.
